Evidence Based and Holistic Approach

Support You Can Trust—Backed by Experience

Hi, I’m Dr. Hailey McQuilken, a physical therapist and birth doula. At The Birth Therapist, I blend evidence-based care with a holistic approach to support you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. With years of hospital experience, I’m here to help you feel confident, cared for, and truly heard every step of the way.

Meet Dr. Hailey McQuilken

With a Doctor of Physical Therapy background and hands-on experience in top hospitals like the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, I’ve always been passionate about helping people feel strong, supported, and confident in their bodies—especially during major life transitions like birth.

I met my husband while we were both living in Philadelphia, and I was finishing up grad school. After our daughter was born, we made the big move to Florida when she was just 10 months old. At that point, I was staying home full-time and no longer working in the hospital setting. Not long after settling in—surprise!—I got pregnant again (yes, you can get pregnant while breastfeeding!).

That second pregnancy sparked something new: my journey into birth work. Going through two under two, back-to-back pregnancies, and over three years of being either pregnant and/or breastfeeding gave me a whole new perspective. I realized that my deep knowledge of the body, combined with my real-life experience as a mom, could make a real difference for other women in this season.

That’s how The Birth Therapist came to be—born from a love of evidence-based care, a respect for the body’s wisdom, and a deep belief that every mom deserves informed, compassionate support.

Approach to Care

At The Birth Therapist, I believe that when you understand what’s happening in your body and what to expect, you feel calmer, more confident, and better equipped to make decisions. My care blends clinical knowledge, personal experience, and a genuine respect for your unique path through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Limited Clients, Full Presence

I intentionally take on a small number of clients each month to ensure I can truly show up for each one. I value presence, reliability, and connection—and I’m proud to say I’ve never unexpectedly missed a birth.

Safety

Feeling safe is about more than physical care—it’s also about trust, emotional support, and having someone in your corner. Whether it’s navigating conversations with your provider or simply being a calm presence during labor, I’m here to protect your space and your process.

Building Confidence Through Education

Knowledge builds confidence. I lead with education because I’ve seen how it helps people feel safer and more at ease throughout the process. From how labor works to what your options are in the hospital or at home, I break things down in a way that makes sense—so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
